Fund. Mr. Selman has over 20 years of
project finance and venture capital
experience. During his career,
Mr. Selman has arranged approximately
$1.5 billion in financing. Much
of this experience was obtained
in less developed countries, where
availability of private capital
is key, and in various market sectors
including power generation and
transmission, water and wastewater
treatment, mass transit, air pollution
control, automotive paint finishing,
pulp and paper, oil and gas production,
and refining and petrochemicals.
Mr. Selman previously founded and managed Energy & Environmental Ventures LLC, a specialized financial advisory and investment banking firm serving clients developing technology and infrastructure projects in the global energy and environmental markets. Prior to E&EV, Mr. Selman served with ABB where he was responsible for providing financial advisory and investment banking services to ABB group companies in North America and, ultimately, to their customers located around the world. Mr. Selman also served as a principal in two boutique investment banks serving the energy and environmental markets where he arranged structured finance solutions for clients and provided M&A advisory services. His utility experience includes assignments with the Edison Electric Institute and Potomac Electric Power Company. During his engineering days, he was also responsible for the corporate energy management program for Chesebrough-Pond’s, a diversified consumer products manufacturer, which is now a subsidiary of Unilever.
Mr. Selman holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with Honors, from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
LESS Limited (Hong Kong) is a strategic fund of funds focused on investing in environmental companies, services and/or solutions that are beneficial for China and India. LESS is the lead investor for the Asia West Environment Funds, China Environment Funds and Aloe Environment Fund.
Tsinghua Venture Capital Co., Ltd. (Beijing) manages the China Environment Fund, which invests in non-listed companies based in the People’s Republic of China that provide products and services that contribute to the improvement of the natural environment.
Aloe Private Equity SA (London and Paris) manages the Aloe Environment Fund, FCPR, a private equity fund that invests in non-listed European companies.
A fourth investment program is in formation in India in conjunction with the Tata Group to invest in Indian companies.
